Red fighters under the Conrado Heredia Command-Guerilla Front 20 Operations Command of the New People’s Army stymied reinforcement troops from the 75th Infantry Battalion led by 1st Lt. Mutya, in an ambush that killed three enemy forces in Sitio Pamian, Barangay Bugac, Lingig, Surigao del Sur last September 6, at around 1pm.

The NPA ambush was directed against the 75th IB troops who serve as private army of big landlords and compradors and who masquerade as “harmless” implementers of peace and development outreach program, using as pretext the “rescue operations” for NPA detainees GPH Lingig Mayor Henry Dano, and his two 75th IB intelligence escorts.

The Eastern Mindanao Command of the AFP has, time and again, continued to pursue aggressive militarist line when dealing with the NPA’s prisoners of war or with NPA detainees, putting on the frontline ordinary foot soldiers. Fascist troops of the 75th IB, 67th IB and the 2nd Scout Ranger Battalion continue to scour the provinces of Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Sur, Compostela Valley and Davao Oriental, violating human rights of civilians and committing other grave abuses.

The enemy’s futile “rescue” operations for GPH Mayor Dano and the two intelligence operatives continue to be relentless, superciliously ignoring calls for suspension of military operations that could ensure the safety of the NPA detainees and expedite the judicial proceedings applied to Mayor Dano. Indeed, the AFP’s desperation to save face is laid bare in these military offensives. It is not interested in rescuing the three NPA detainees; it is only engrossed in parading itself as a fascist tool for despotic landlords and compradors.
