It was nothing but a recklessly fabricated lie, to tag the 1st Pulang Bagani Company-New People’s Army as responsible for the kidnapping of two Paquibato tribal leaders, in an obvious retaliation to series of military defeats with the NPA. The lies peddled by 10th Infantry Division-PA spokesperson Col. Lyndon Paniza were wildly crafted to justify an all-out pangayaw (tribal war) against peasant and Lumad civilian communities by the 1003rd Brigade-AFP and its cabal of warmongering tribal datus led by Ruben Labawan and the ATADI.

Contrary to Paniza’s absurd story, Datu Lorenzo Pendio and Marcelino Gumatao are not in the hands of the NPA but are with their relatives. The two datus strongly oppose military detachments in their areas, as with other Lumad civilians who have gradually left their homes out of fear.

The pangayaw campaign by the 1003rd Brigade-10th ID-AFP is designed to revivify the already defeated Alamara Cafgus to offset mounting resistance by Lumad and peasant masses against military detachments and forced Cafgu recruitment in their areas. The 10th ID has intensified its forced Cafgu recruitment, rebuilt the Damilag Patrol Base even as it was already disarmed last December 2010, in an effort to revive the Alamara.Spreading fear and instigating civilians to pay exorbitant “sablag” or fines is the 10th ID’s current ploy in the pangayaw campaign, now being spearheaded by ATADI leaders like Paquibato district tribal datu Generoso Baon, Brgy. Capt. Jaime Manyawron of Brgy. Mapula and Brgy. Capt. Doming Bocayla of Brgy. Salapawan.

Labawan and the ATADI are proverbial lackeys to the military, propped up each time the AFP faces defeats and casualties in the battlefield. The ATADI is not only a warmongerer but also rabidly anti-people, as it paved the way for the entry of Alberto Mining Corp. and Pensons Mining Corp with the ATADI tribal datus of Brgys. Mapula, Salapawan, Malabog, Lumiad and Tapak handsomely paid P250,000 each in exchange for their consent to the mining project. Although, the two firms have already secured exploration mining permits, no actual exploration has been undertaken in the face of strong people’s opposition in the area and the NPA’s enforcement of mining ban in both Paquibato and Marilog districts.#
