In solidarity with the Campout at Mendiola

Communist Party of the Philippines
December 7, 2011

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) expresses solidarity with the thousands of youth and workers currently demonstrating at Plaza Miranda to protest the rotten ruling system and the policies of the US-Aquino regime that have caused the people untold suffering.

The CPP, the New People's Army and all revolutionary forces salute the youth and workers for their courage in marching and camping out at Mendiola despite the US-Aquino regime's violent suppression their mass action.

The CPP condemns yesterday's violent dispersal by the police who used truncheons and water cannon against the demonstrators at Recto Avenue marching towards Mendiola bridge. The US-Aquino regime is demonstrating its intransigence in the face of the people's suffering caused by his regime's policies.

The US-Aquino regime is hellbent on suppressing the people's protest actions. But this will be its undoing as the people will more determinedly fight for their rights and interests. The US-Aquino regime's repressiveness will only provoke bigger mass actions in the future.

As Aquino steps up his suppression of the people's democratic rights, the more he demonstrates the correctness of the need for armed struggle to put an end to the rotten ruling system.
