Intensify our struggle against the imperialist financial crisis! Advance the people's war towards achieving the strategic stalemate!

Kabataang Makabayan-Lucille Gypsy Zabala Brigade is imparting its revolutionary salutation and class solidarity to the 47th founding anniversary of the oldest, widest and the first comprehensive national democratic mass organization of the youth in the country – Kabataang Makabayan.

A simple organization that started as a study group of youths in the University of the Philippines-Diliman is now still part of the revolutionary foundation of the people’s war led by the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front of the Philippines or CPP-NPA-NDFP.

In its almost five decades of existence, Kabataang Makabayan has repeatedly proven the role of the youth being the spearhead and cutting edge of the mass movement. From identifying the semi-colonial and semi-feudal system of the society and the three roots of this systemic predicament, namely feudalism, bureaucrat capitalism and imperialism, Kabataang Makabayan has continuously grasped its position in the revolution.

Being moribund and the last stage of monopoly capitalism, imperialism is currently on its brink of destruction. The financial crisis that is presently being felt primarily in the United States and the European Union has shown and proven the correctness of the Marxist-Leninist-Maoist line. The crisis of overproduction of imperialist countries leading to the plunder of colonial and semi-colonial nations’ cheap labor and natural resources is being passed many times over to the toiling masses.

First, imperialism is anxiously clinging onto feudalism being its social base in colonial and semi-colonial countries. Raw materials for the anarchic capitalist production have led to the pillage of products produced by the sweat and blood of the peasant class. The republika haciendero, as the peasants describe the US-Aquino regime, substantiates the necessity of the agrarian revolution, the first stage of the protracted people’s war.

Second, the Aquino regime has prioritized foreign debt servicing over basic social services which eats up 40 percent of the national budget. Foreign debt servicing is bigger than the integrated spending on education, health, migrants and other services. Cloaked under the mirage of a reform budget, the anti-people and pro-imperialist orientation of the national budget is patterned on the framework of salvaging the gasping imperialists through the automatic debt payment. While aware that cuts on social services could lead to massive outrage, the US-Aquino regime has fueled up the Conditional Cash Transfer program or dole-outs to separate the people from taking the revolutionary path under the US Counter-Insurgency Guide of 2009.

Third, seeing foreign debt servicing and imperialist plunder being not enough to rescue itself, the Public-Private Partnership program is positioned as another avenue of imperialism by maximizing the bureaucrat capitalists to execute the brutality of the state to the masses and rake in enormous money and investments. Massive demolitions have been situated in almost all cities in Metro Manila. To the brutality of the state, the urban poor have staunchly answered back with barricades turning the metro into a battlefield between the ruling class and the exploited masses.

Fourth, the US-backed charter change proposal is evidently part of their grandiose plan to keep the status quo through economic amendments to the Philippine constitution. Supported by the House of Representatives, the amendment aims to increase the current 40 percent ownership of corporations to 100 percent that leads to the intensified insolence on the country’s sovereignty.

Fifth, the continuous sabotage of the peace talks between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines or GPH and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines. Many times over, the GPH has proven its insincerity to continue the peace talks by derailing it perpetually irrespective of who is seated in the political power. In the principle of the NDFP to seek genuine, just and lasting peace, they have presented the Comprehensive Agreement on Socio-Economic Reforms or CASER which contains the salient interests of the masses, primarily genuine land distribution and national industrialization. Yet, the GPH answered back with indefinite suspension.

Our struggle against the financial crisis is part of our aspiration to establish a society that truly serves the people. Our Marxist-Leninist-Maoist analysis that the putrid imperialist system will collapse and will be replaced by a system under the dictatorship of the proletariat is undeniably precise and correct.

Nowhere in the current semi-colonial and semi-feudal system can the people find change but in joining the people’s war. Nowhere in the current semi-colonial and semi-feudal system can the youth find its place but only in the revolutionary path.

The revolutionary vigor of the youth will not be wasted for in the following years, we will be standing on a different position in the stages of the protracted people’s war. Hundreds to thousands of youth must and will contribute to the advancement of the people’s war by adhering to the four major responsibilities of the Kabataang Makabayan, especially by joining the New People’s Army. In the coming years or maybe even in the next anniversary of the Kabataang Makabayan, we will be standing on equal-footing with the state.

We call on to the all the members of the Kabataang Makabayan to heavily partake in intensifying the urban mass movement. It is in high time that we answer back with the sustained and widespread victories in the countryside with an upsurge that will unleash the tremor of the urban revolutionary mass movement.
