CPP Information Bureau
April 9, 2011

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today said "by going all-out in blaming so-called negative coverage for their sagging popularity, MalacaƱang and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) are sending veiled threats to journalists, reporters and other media practitioners."

503rd "Mining Security Force" Brigade punished anew; 7 soldiers of the 50th IB killed, 3 wounded, 2 helicopters damaged in 6 days of fighting in Tubo

While 41st IB troops, Col. Danny Pabunan, 503rd Brigade CO, and Gov. Eustachio Bersamin were busy conducting civil-military operations, now called peace and development missions, in Lacub, 50th IB troops kept pouring into Tubo, since March 28, 2011. Obviously, the objectives of these were to sabotage the celebration of the 42nd Anniversary of the New People's Army. More than 300 soldiers of the 50th IB, under Col. Anquillano, began concentrating in Barangay Alangtin since March 28, 2011.

The NPA commemorated the 42nd Anniversary in Tubo in a better way: by launching a series of tactical offensives!

Irrigation projects in Paquibato areas claimed by mining companies a ploy to deceive residents; NPA drives out NIA personnel

April 7, 2011

An eight-person National Irrigation Administration (NIA) team conducting 'pulong-pulong' in Barangay Mapula, Paquibato District was accosted by the 1st PBC-NPA and ordered to turn back, March 21. The NIA "consultation" was purportedly to "inform" the people of an irrigation project to be implemented in the area. The NIA team led by Engr. Salome Layasan presented documents which vaguely explained the intent and purpose of the supposed irrigation project.

The NPA confiscated the NIA team's service vehicle, two camera phones, maps, NIA petition forms, NIA membership agreement and identification cards. The revolutionary masses have kept in custody the confiscated properties until NIA can present the necessary documents explaining fully the project.

THE LAST BRAVE STAND: The Communist Party of the Philippines' Tribute to Comrade Billy Berana (Ka Toklai/Ka Ebyong)

Regional Party Committee

February 1, 2011

"Withdraw now to safety while I take care of the enemy!" These were Ka Toklai's last final words as he bravely faced a platoon of 73rd IB contingents who were on a surprise patrol in the hinterland barrio of Malapatan, Sarangani Province about 2 pm of 26 January 2011. Together with Red fighters in ambush position, he bravely fought with his m16 rifle, hitting seven soldiers, two of whom were later pronounced dead in the hospital. When Ka Toklai fell, the other comrades who were with him had already escaped to safety and were out of reach from the marauding Scout Rangers of the AFP.

Billy Berana or Ka Toklai (also known as Ka Berka, Ka Ebyong, Ka Goyot, Ka Zero and many other names), who bravely offered his life to save his companions, gives us a glimpse of the heroism and selflessness of the people's true warrior. He was the quintessential revolutionary who lived and died serving the people wholeheartedly. He had dedicated the greater part of his life with the Lumad and peasant masses, braving the odds, giving practical solutions and humor to the most difficult situations. He was 44 and had worked as an exemplary revolutionary for close to 30 years.

Late last night, an abusive and rotten police offical emphasized what they think of human rights and how detainees here at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame should be put in their "proper place".

Yesterday's Camp Duty Officer (CDO) drunk with liquor and power, started banging at the cell gates of several cell blocks at eleven in the evening, barged into individual cells, belted out abusive and arrogant words, ordered the detainees to be roused from their sleep, and made them fall in line for a "headcount".

Oplan Bayanihan: The AFP's new campaign plan for counterrevolutionary war

Ang Bayan
April 2, 2011 (Special Issue)

The reactionary US-Aquino regime implemented Oplan Bayanihan, its new campaign plan for counterrevolutionary war, at the start of 2011. Its objective is to defend the semicolonial and semifeudal system, maintain the rule of US imperialism and its local puppets the big comprador bourgeoisie and big landlords. It also aims to crush or secure the surrender of the armed revolution and other forces waging resistance to their antinational, antimasses and anti-democratic rule.

There is no fundamental or qualitative difference between Oplan Bayanihan and Oplan Bantay Laya (OBL) I and II and earlier campaign plans of the AFP. Even if it purports to represent a radical shift from the previous fascist and militarist Oplan, it is in essence an extension of OBL I and II. The old oplan has merely been given new garb and being peddled as a grandiose program for peace, development and human rights. The Oplan and even its pretensions are all derived from the 2009 Counterinsurgency Guide.
