Richard Paras who was ambushed-killed by the 402nd DRC in Sibagat, Agusan del Sur, is not a member of the NPA!

We would like to clarify that RICHARD PARAS IS NOT A MEMBER OF THE NEW PEOPLE’S ARMY (NPA) as declared by the military. Richard Paras was ambushed-killed by the 402nd DRC in Lingin-Bato, Padiay, Sibagat, Agusan del Sur last May 29, 2011.

In May 29, 2011, a group of New People’s Army from Front 21 encountered a column from the army’s 402nd DRC. Because the Comrades were not favourably positioned, two firearms were left behind when they withdrew. But nobody was killed among the Red Fighters.

NPA Negros Reply and Challenge to Cols Sumagaysay and Patrimonio

Ka Juanito Magbanua

June 03, 2011

The statements made by Col Jonas Sumagaysay in the media that there is “misunderstanding between comrades from Samar and Negros” is not true. According to Sumagaysay that this is the result of the rift within the NPA leadership that brought about mis-encounters because there is no coordination, “the NPAs are the one fighting ang shooting each other, distrust each other because of the presence of DPAs (Deep Penetration Agents) inside the Red army that is why the NPA launch “Oplan Hilamon” in order to cleanse their ranks. Another bloody intrigue is the 20 or more NPA that were investigated including one NPA official meted the death penalty named Ben Hur. It is also untrue that there were 9 KIA and 17 WIA on the side of the NPA in Sitio Dogma. These are all lies and fabrications.

NPA seeks justice for all in punishing the 19th IB

Fr. Santiago Salas
NDFP-Eastern Visayas
June 1, 2011

The National Democratic Front-Eastern Visayas said today that the New People's Army in Leyte is making the 19th IB pay for its crimes, and that battalion commander Lt. Col. Federico Tutaan is doggedly covering up his unit's losses as well as its various atrocities. "The 8th Infantry Division through Col. Tutaan had long gloated that the NPA was finished in Leyte," said Fr. Santiago Salas, NDF-EV spokesperson. "But the NPA had made great advances in recent years, and from March 2010 to March 2011 inflicted losses on the 19th IB of at least 40 soldiers killed in action and 12 wounded in action, and the confiscation of high-powered rifles and other weapons. While Col. Tutaan denies the 19th IB's losses, it is no wonder then that military deployment in Leyte has been upgraded from a single battalion to approximately a brigade under the 802nd Ibde, now based in the island."

NDF-EV urges Gov. Nicart to support the peace talks at the national level

Fr. Santiago Salas
NDFP-Eastern Visayas
Hunyo 1, 2011

The National Democratic Front-Eastern Visayas today declined the offer of Eastern Samar Gov. Conrado Nicart, Jr., to discuss peace in the province and said the gesture for peace will be much better if the governor will support the peace talks at the national level. “The issue of peace is bigger than in Eastern Samar alone,” said Fr. Santiago Salas, NDF-EV spokesperson. “That is why the peace talks should be held at the national level as it is now to thresh out the root causes of the armed conflict and to make a just and lasting peace possible. Holding peace talks at the local level will only play into the hands of the militarists and fascists who want to sow confusion and sabotage genuine peace by such a divide-and-rule tactic against the revolutionary forces,”

The moment is critical for the course of the country. The sea of people that covered yesterday evening the Constitution square in Athens, as well as the similarly unprecedented meetings in dozens of cities all over Greece, mark the entry into a new phase. The movement that was born on 25 May, out of parties and trade unions, is a most important development. The people spontaneously flood the scene and make the first steps towards a big social, democratic and national uprising.
