Aquino regime Is responsible for scuttling peace negotiations

NDFP Negotiating Panel
2 September 2011

The regime of Benigno Aquino III is not interested in reaching agreements with the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) that would address the roots of the armed conflict and pave the way for a just and lasting peace in the country.

The NDFP, through negotiating panel Chairperson Luis Jalandoni, has already expressed its desire to hold another round of formal talks of the negotiating panels, the Reciprocal Working Committees on Social and Economic Reforms (RWCs SER), the Working Groups on Political and Constitutional Reforms (WGs PCR) and the Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC), in Oslo, Norway, from 12 to 24 September 2011.

Communist Party of the Philippines
September 01, 2011

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today condemned the Aquino regime for the series of violent demolitions of urban poor communities in Metro Manila and Cebu province.

"The Aquino regime is clearly showing its anti-poor bias in employing state brutality to forcibly demolish homes and drive away the people from their communities in order to give way to big business interests and their public-private partnership projects," said the CPP. The Aquino regime has allocated at least P22 billion for various projects to be carried out under its public-private partnership scheme.

Expel the military from civilian communities!

Fr. Santiago "Sanny" Salas
NDFP-Eastern Visayas
Septyembre 1, 2011

The National Democratic Front-Eastern Visayas today called on the people to fight militarization and fascism by campaigning for the removal of military presence in civilian communities. "Under Oplan Bayanihan, troops of the 8th Infantry Division routinely worm themselves into both urban and rural communities on the pretext of working for 'peace and development,'" said Fr. Santiago Salas, NDF-EV spokesperson. "In truth, these troops are committing acts of war by engaging in combat and psychological warfare operations against the New People's Army. They put civilians at risk and have in fact committed atrocities. The occupation of civilian communities by the 8th ID grossly violates international humanitarian law as well as the Comprehensive Agreement on Respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law."

NPA units under the Jose Percival Estocada, Jr. Command in Central Panay launched three consecutive military actions from August 23 to August 28, 2011. These actions are the NPA’s firm response to the 61st IB’s very long list of violence and violation of human rights against the people.

Last August 28, 2011, sometime past ten in the morning, a platoon of Red fighters used a command detonated land mine to ambush the 6-man command group of Bravo Company, 61st IB, aboard a KM 450 military vehicle at the boundary of Bgy Switch and Bgy Bagong Barrio, Tapaz, Capiz. Wounded in the ambush were 1Lt Jose Dalida, CO of Bravo Coy, 2Lt Lisbon Brawner, and enlisted personnel—Pfc Arman Himorañon, Pfc Marlo Gahum and Cpl Reynante Vicente while Cpl Pedrajas was unhurt. Pfc Marlo Gahum died without reaching the hospital because it took more than two hours for the two Huey helicopters to evacuate the wounded. An additional casualty, Pfc Rolly Plano, was wounded when the reo carrying reinforcements turned turtle in Sitio Ambulong, Bgy Malitbog, Tapaz. Bravo Company is the most stubborn implementor of Oplan Bayanihan in Central Panay among the four companies under the 61st Infantry Battalion.
