The National Democratic Front-Panay reads General Mabanta's Lips

General Mabanta, as reported in the headline news in Panay News on July 17, 2012 only confirmed the NDF-Panay’s view that the General is only interested in a ‘peace talk’ for surrender. For why else did he cite that ‘lots of rebels want to give up’ and ‘wanting a normal life and calling for peace’. He brandished the example of the surrendered RPA (‘Revolutionary Proletarian Army’) begging for millions of patronage as actively engaging in a farcical ‘peace talk’ with the Government of the Philippines (GRP). Since all the while the RPA has been doing the GRP’s dirty war against legitimate activists and the masses whom they harass, extrajudicially kill or abduct with impunity for which the GRP denies responsibility for. In his kind of ‘peace talk’, Mabanta then will assign the revolutionary forces, upon surrender, to the job of ‘assisting in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of conflict-afflicted areas’.
All this, is of course, as instructed by the United States Counter-Insurgency Guide, the orientation guideline provided by a foreign power to its minion —the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). As usual General Mabanta conveniently ignores the casus belli, cause for war, which as the NDF has declared, is the land question—that is, the GRP’s land-grabbing of the Tumandok’s land now occupied and up for sale by the General, as well as the landlessness of the peasantry, the joblessness of the workers and especially of the youth who would have had great hopes for their future. General Mabanta has directed us to help in the reconstruction of only war-afflicted areas while covering-up for the deep economic and social crisis inflicted upon the whole country and the whole world by the US globalization policies, financial swindling and counter-terrorism campaigns. All of which are avidly subscribed to, even now, by the Aquino II regime.

General Mabanta upheld the NDF-Panay’s affirmation that peace talks should be done at the national level, when the General declared that the question of respecting the Joint Agreement on Security and Immunity Guarantees (JASIG) and the continuing arrest of peace consultants as a ‘concern at the national level’. Definitely, General Mabanta will keep on arresting peace negotiators and pass on the implementation of initial agreements by the GRP and the NDF to ‘the national level’. What political entity, in its right mind and principled, would talk of peace at all to General Mabanta? The national freedom fighter and revolutionary General Macario Sakay, to his grief learned this lesson the hard way when he was lured to talk of peace and was forthwith captured by the American Army of occupation. Anyway, General Mabanta has already endorsed the resolution of such basic requisite for peace talks to the national level, as it should be. How much more for the substantial part of the talks.

General Mabanta should be fully satisfied in just continuing to engage the RPA and other surrenderees in his version of a ‘peace talk’ (also known as ‘peace discourses’) for the purpose of fooling the public about being for peace. The RPA continue to surrender and talk again an d again so that they could claim twice or more the money incentive for surrender—for themselves and for their military handlers as well. Just don’t publicly brag about it as achievement (rehashed); or else the widespread rumor would be confirmed—that you are just talking to yourself!? you are just talking to yourself!?
