Aquino’s sweet policy on large-scale mining wholly to blame in Pantukan landslide tragedy

Anvil Guinto
Crucifino Uballas Command, NPA-Southern Mindanao
January 6, 2012

The Crucifino Uballas Command-Front 2 Operations Command of the New People’s Army commiserates with the families of the victims of landslides in Diat, Brgy. Napnapan, Pantukan, and has mobilized resources to accord support to the suffering masses.

The US-Aquino regime has shamelessly caused the January 5 Pantukan landslides. The tragedy has put to fore the disastrous policy of the US-Aquino regime that favours large-scale mining like that of US-owned Russell Mining, and the dislocation of small-scale miners in the area. The tragedy and the aftermath demonstrated the ugly character of Aquino’s puppetry to greedy, hostile and destructive large-scale mining firms in the countryside.

Enero 6, 2012

The Efren Martires Command of the New People's Army-Eastern Visayas today called 8th Infantry Division chief Gen. Mario Chan as daydreaming of an “insurgency-free” region while the NPA in fact is gaining hundreds of new supporters despite Oplan Bayanihan's offensive. “Phony press releases do not win a war; it is the people's support that is decisive,” said Ka Ka Karlos Manuel, EMC spokesperson. “In Leyte alone, which the 8th ID proclaimed as “insurgency-free” in December, the NPA organized at least 500 new revolutionary mass activists of peasants, women and youth in three months even as Oplan Bayanihan began its rampage. The NPA was also able to reach more barrios than ever in Leyte. The revolutionary mass organizations of peasants, women and youth constitute the mass base of the people's democratic government. They support the armed struggle and from their ranks the the best sons and daughters of the people are recruited into the NPA.

January 5, 2012

The National Democratic Front-Eastern Visayas today sympathized with the more than 50,000 people victimized by heavy floods in Leyte and Southern Leyte, and furthermore held the Aquino regime accountable for its incompetence and for pursuing economic policies detrimental to the people and the environment. “The NDF-EV is in solidarity with the people of Leyte and Southern Leyte who have been braving the rains and floods for the past week,” said Fr. Santiago Salas, NDF-EV spokesperson. “The people in the Samar provinces are also endangered by the continuous rains and floods. The Aquino government should have been prepared for such a calamity to which the region is vulnerable based on past experiences. But the incompetence and neglect of the Aquino regime is once again highlighted by evacuations going on only at the height of the rains and floods, and the woeful unpreparedness to deal with tens of thousands of evacuees.”

We greet the New Year with revolutionary optimism!

Jorge KA ORIS Madlos
NDFP-Mindanao
01 January 2012

The NDFP-Mindanao welcomes the New Year with mixed feelings of sadness, happiness and hope. Yes, we are deeply saddened by the unimaginable suffering and damage to human lives and properties brought about by typhoon Sendong. There is however, so much reason to be happy and hopeful for the future, because our revolutionary victories in the past few years have inspiringly challenged us to advance our people’s revolutionary war into the stalemate stage in the next few years.

Once again, we extend our sympathy to all those who lost their loved ones as well as their properties in the latest calamity. The Communist Party of the Philippines, the NDFP-Mindanao, and the New People’s Army have been and are mobilizing the whole revolutionary forces in Mindanao to help in the effort for relief and the rehabilitation.

New Year's greetings to the Filipino people in 2012

Communist Party of the Philippines
January 1, 2012

The leadership and the entire membership of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), the Red fighters of the New People's Army (NPA) and all the revolutionary forces greet the entire Filipino nation on the eve of 2012, the New Year.

In the face of the US-Aquino regime's intransigence in perpetuating its worn-out pro-imperialist, pro-landlord and onerous policies, the coming year will surely be marked by worsened economic and living conditions of the people. The much-vaunted “straight road of righteousness” is a straight and fast one only for big businessmen, foreign big capitalists and bureaucrat capitalists in Aquino's government. For the people, Aquino's “road” is no different from the path well-trodden by past reactionary regimes in the last 30 years.
