Suffering, deceit accompany 4Ps program in Southern Mindanao hinterlands

The plight of the peasant and urban poor beneficiaries of the Programang Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino (4Ps) in Southern Mindanao reveals the sham and oppressive character of this much-ballyhooed anti-poverty program of the US-Aquino regime.

In Paquibato district, Davao City, the masses are reacting against the onerous inclusion of rich peasants and small businessmen while poor peasants were left out. The reactionary government' DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) solely identified the beneficiaries of the 4Ps program, in a careless and mad rush to spend the money.

GPH is in continued violation of JASIG in the prolonged detention of Alan Jazmines and other peace consultants

Communist Party of the Philippines
February 17, 2012

The Aquino government is putting a stopple on peace negotiations when its negotiating panel and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) insists that the prolonged detention of Alan Jazmines and 12 other peace consultants of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) are in "faithful compliance" with the Joint Agreement on Safety and Immunity Guarantees (JASIG).

The GPH negotiating panel casts aspersion on the NDFP and the peace negotiations when it insists that it "cannot blindly extend JASIG coverage to just anyone that the NDF alleges is covered." This recent statement reveals the Aquino regime's outright contempt of peace negotiations and complete distortion of the provisions of the JASIG.

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today said that the demand for the release of Alan Jazmines and all other consultants of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) is not a "side issue" to the peace negotiations.

The CPP reiterated the demand for the release of Jazmines, who was arrested by military and police operatives exactly a year ago, in complete disregard of his standing as a JASIG-protected consultant. Jazmines, 65, has since been detained at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame.
