Matagumpay na ni-reyd ng Armando Catapia Command-BHB ang isang Peace and Development Team ng 49th IB na nakabase sa barangay hall ng Maot, bayan ng Labo. Nakasamsam ng anim na M16 armalayt at isang K3 SAW machine gun, at isang cal. 45 mula sa pasistang tropa ng 49th IB. Magtatatlong buwan nang nakabase sa barangay hall ang nasabing PDT, habang naghahasik ng teror sa hanay ng taumbaryo, at iba pang mga pakulong aktibidad upang presyurin at tangkang wasakin ang suporta ng mamamayan para sa rebolusyonaryong kilusan.

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today chided the US government for "hypocrisy" after US Ambassador Harry Thomas yesterday said the US$2 million annual military aid to the Philippines that has been withheld can be released upon the arrest and prosecution of fugitive Gen. Jovito Palparan "to make it appear it is concerned with human rights and the Filipino people's clamor for justice".

"The US government and military is as guilty as the Arroyo, as well as the current Aquino regime, for the spate of extrajudicial killings from 2005-2010 where more than a thousand progressive activists as well as underground revolutionaries were summarily executed by death squads organized and directed by state security and military officials," said the CPP.

US imperialist intervention in the Philippines under Benigno Aquino III's regime is brazen, widespread and intense. What could not be done with completion under previous regimes can now be implemented with full force, because the Aquino regime plays to the hilt its role as a stooge of its imperialist master.

Under the Aquino regime, the presence of US military troops and equipment will be heightened and the facilities left behind by the US in their abandoned military bases in Clark and Subic will be put to use once more. US military and police intelligence units are overtly stepping up their operations in the country under the guise of "coordination." The Aquino regime is also paving the way for charter change to thoroughly open the economy to foreign plunder. Through programs like K+12, imperialist intervention will likewise be finding its way to the very core of education and consciousness.

‘Red Pangayaw’ ambush police and army guards of Xstrata-SMI

The Red Pangayaw of the Blaan tribe, whose ancestral lands are within the mining areas of Davao del Sur, South Cotabato and Sultan Kudarat, claim responsibility for the series of ambush on June 20, 2012 against police and Army contingents serving as guards for the large-scale foreign mining company, Xstrata-SMI. Killed in the ambush were Ret. Police Supt. Villamindo Hectin and PO2 Rey Tonzo. Wounded were SPO1 Wenefredo Sengonigue and PO1 Glen Beltran— members of the Davao del Sur police's Public Safety Command who were escorting Xstrata’s machines and equipment along the Kimlawis, Kiblawan Road. Hectin was a senior security consultant of the Xstrata-SMI.

The local reactionary government's relocation of Matigsalog Lumad victims and declaration of hazardous areas in the wake of last week's landslides in sitio Ladian, Brgy. Marilog will be more beneficial to landgrabbing CADT holders and big mining corporations.

The CPP reiterated its demand for the immediate release of Ka Bart in accordance with the Joint Agreement on Safety and Immunity Guarantees (JASIG) between the Philippine government (GPH) and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP).

Government and private offices are hung with flags. The Government of the Philippines (GPH) prepares grandiose rites with sentimental speeches and the usual hold-on-things-shall-get-better promises in it. Ordinary people watch and wonder and ask what has ‘independence’ got to do with bringing about changes into their lives? On what day of the year, if there is any, do they simply feel free?

We, Ramon Patriarca's fellow detained NDF peace consultants, deplore his continuing subjection to cruel isolation, reprisals and repression at the Camp Lapu-Lapu, Cebu headquarters of the Visayas Central Command (CENCOM) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). It was there where he was secretly brought to, heavily and cruelly tortured, and held incommunicado for four years in a secret jail. He was surreptitiously returned there last January 25 to again be given the same treatment he suffered since his abduction, torture and other punishments by the 78th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army (IB, PA) way back in 2005.

The enclosed set of individual summary documentations of the cases of most political prisoners here at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame is submitted herewith by the undersigned in corroboration with concerned political prisoners presently detained in this custodial center.

We have worked on the study and documentation of these cases and other related cases for practically the whole of the past year, and have conclusively established that the subjects have definitely been and continue to be victims of grossly unjust, arbitrary and illegal arrest, prosecution and detention; of torture and other grave human rights violations; of snail-paced (and even absent, in some cases), manipulated and unfair court processes; and of foreign intrusion - -(including the cases of rendition of foreigners forcibly abducted abroad at the instigation of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), smuggled into the Philippines with the use of fictitious identities imposed on them, detained and charged with trumped-up cases as Filipinos; and the constant interest and repeated interrogation of political prisoners--particularly Moro/Muslim political prisoners--by the FBI and other U.S. intelligence agencies in a secret FBI room right inside the detention area as well as in at least one secret condominium unit in the vicinity that is being used by U.S. intelligence agencies).

Father's day for a political prisoner

As Father’s Day comes and I remain a political prisoner (at present in the 16th month of my third imprisonment and the 115th month of the total time I have been behind bars, or almost 10 years now), I recall the close to four decades that I have been greatly distanced—physically, at least—from my sons, Carlos Andres (Dimpy) and Arthur Victor.
