March 20, 6:45 am, an NPA platoon effectively outmaneuvered troops of the 58th IB in Dugo-dugo, Pelaez, Claveria, Misamis Oriental, seized the initiative, foiled and inflicted casualty on the raidersleaving a CAFGU member killed and three regular soldiers wounded. The NPA unit safely withdrew despite the enemy’s use of two helicopter air support and five mortar shells.

March 24 – an NPA unit launched five successive harassment actions in a day against the command post of the 58th IB’s Alpha Coy in Bangbang, Medina, Misamis Oriental starting 5:00 am. Eight reactionary troops were killed while four others were wounded. Enemy bullets wounded Beloy Legazpi, caretaker of the Tiro family’s landholdings where the command post is located.

On the other hand, the NPA unit suffered no casualties, except for a duff explosive device recovered by the enemy.

These military actions of the Eastern Misamis Oriental-Northeast Bukidnon Sub-Regional Command are directed against the fascist troops who pave the way for the establishment of large-scale mining operations in the Mt. Balatukan area. AFP military operations likewise ill-treat peasants and repress the agrarian revolution being launched in the countryside.
