The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today extended its sympathies to the millions of people affected by supertyphoon Yolanda which ravaged provinces in Eastern and Central Visayas, in Panay, Negros, Masbate, Mindoro, Palawan and other islands, as well as in areas in Eastern and South Eastern Mindanao, Northern Mindanao and provinces in Southern Luzon.

At the same time, the CPP called for mass mobilization across the country and abroad to generate emergency supply and funds for rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts. The CPP called on "people in the areas least affected by the storm to extend maximum possible help to the people who are most in need of emergency assistance."

The intransigence and Aquino's defense of the pork barrel system, especially his own billions of funds under the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP), gravely stoke the people's outrage against the Aquino regime's corruption and the rotten ruling system.

Because of this, his anti-corruption rhetorics are swiftly unleashed which he used to cover-up the rotteness of his regime and the system he tried administering. Despite of this, he has been trying to instill the illusion of "righteous path" to the minds of the people though it is riddled with cracks.

More

Naglilipat kami noon.

The National Democratic Front of the Philippines condoles with the family of Fr. Jose P. Dizon, his relatives, comrades and colleagues, and numerous friends. His passing away two days ago deeply saddens us even as we draw strength and inspiration from his shining example of constant and fruitful service to the workers and all the oppressed struggling for freedom and justice.

Forty years as a priest of the people, always standing on the side of the oppressed in their fight against their oppressors and exploiters, Fr. Joe D never wavered in his commitment. It only grew stronger through the years. He became ever more creative and resourceful in building and fostering the various organizations and alliances for advancing the people's struggle for national and social liberation.

Julie and I express our most heartfelt condolences to the beloved family of Fr. Jose P. Dizon over his passing away. Like all his comrades, we are deeply saddened and can find comfort only by reminding ourselves of his devoted and fruitful service to the poor and exploited working people.

An Irish priest friend of ours (the late Jack Hynes), who was close to Bishop Perez within the Church-Labor Center, briefed us in 1976 about Fr. Joe D as a trusted assistant of the bishop, a staunch opponent of the Marcos fascist dictatorship and a supporter of the workers, particularly in the La Tondeña strike. Then, he introduced us to him and put us in his care. We were in transit from one place to another.

Fr. Joe Dizon, rebolusyonaryong paring Katoliko

Translation: Fr. Joe Dizon, revolutionary Catholic priest

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) expresses its deep sense of loss over the death of Fr. Joe Dizon. He passed away last night at the age of 65.

The leadership and entire membership of the CPP pay tribute to Fr. Joe Dizon, revolutionary Catholic priest, patriot and humble servant of the working class and the toiling masses.

He was among the pioneer organizers of the Basic Christian Community in the 1970s which put into practice the progressive Catholic social teaching of having preferential option for the poor. Such an advocacy was being advanced by the Christians for National Liberation (CNL) against the traditional leadership of the Roman Catholic Church. Like many priests infused by the spirit of serving the people, Fr. Joe helped organize urban poor and workers communities.

Reflections on Churches’ Witnessing with Human Rights Victims

November 4, 2013

At the time I was based in the Union Theological Seminary (UTS) in the Philippines, local villagers including indigenous people who resisted mining operations and militarization have been forcibly displaced from their communities.

The seminary served as sanctuary for the refugees, despite the threat of harassment and intimidation by state security forces. For the students’ theological training, they were encouraged to be aware of the plight of the poor and marginalized sectors, especially the victims of human rights atrocities.

I believe the UTS support for the refugees is one good example of church solidarity with the victims of injustice. Walking and working with the poor is not optional. It is in fact, a basic role and sacred duty of the church.

Aquino is the Lord of Thieves--CPP

Information Bureau
Communist Party of the Philippines
November 04, 2013

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today declared Benigno Aquino III as "The Lord of Thieves," as a riposte to Aquino's declaration last October 31 on primetime television that 'I am not a thief'.

"Aquino's declaration is as lacking in credibility and persuasiveness as Gloria Arroyo's 2004 'I am sorry' spiel," said the CPP. In 2005, government television aired Arroyo seeking forgiveness for having called an election officer during the canvassing of votes in the 2004 elections. Just like Arroyo, Aquino went on television last week amid the sharp fall in survey ratings for the ruling government.

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) condemns the US government for setting up telecom facilities in the Philippines to intercept internet traffic and telephone calls as part of its network of international intelligence network. The CPP condemns the Aquino regime for sitting idly by and allowing the US security and defense agencies to use the Philippines as a listening post and wantonly engage in spy operations in outright violation of Philippine sovereignty.

"The CPP joins the Filipino people in expressing outrage at the espionage operations being conducted by the US government, in connivance with its allied governments, which violate Philippine sovereignty. The Filipino people cannot allow foreign imperialist powers to make use of the Philippines as a base for its interventionism against other independent countries," added the CPP.
