The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) today called on the Filipino people to gear up to do battle in order to put a stop to the Aquino regime's speeding charter-change (chacha) train.

"Benigno Aquino III is exerting all-out effort to provide the chacha train full momentum in order to ram through the anti-national provisions that will allow foreign big capitalists to own land and operate their business in the Philippines without restrictions," said the CPP.

"The CPP joins the Filipino people in denouncing the reactionary Philippine House of Representatives and its committee on constitutional amendments for ramming through the resolution to amend the 1987 constitution and approving it in less than two weeks and after just several perfunctory hearings."

The resolution is set to be subjected to plenary debate soon. "The Filipino people fear that the resolution will quickly pass the floor debate in the same way that the MalacaƱang-sponsored resolutions of the past whisked through congress," said the CPP, referring to the impeachment of former Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona and the RH Bill, both of which were vigorously supported by Aquino with congressional pork barrel.

"Beyond doubt, the speed which the chacha train has reached can only have been achieved with the pork barrel fuel provided by Aquino to his favored allies in congress," said the CPP.

"The proposal to amend the Philippine constitution of 1987 to remove the provisions which restrict foreign equity in land ownership and operating businesses in the country will only worsen foreign economic domination, further wiping out domestic capital and completely subjecting the Philippine economy and its resources to the profit-making whims of foreign big capital and their local partners," pointed the CPP.

"The proposal to amend the constitution is nothing but a return to the parity rights amendment of 1946 which the US government had inserted in the Philippine constition of 1935," said the CPP. "After a century of plundering the Philippines, American big capitalists continue to drool over the remaining forest, mineral and water resources in the Philippines and demand that they be allowed unrestricted rights to profit from our country's wealth."

"If successful in pushing for chacha, the Aquino regime will have opened the gates for the virtual recolonization of the Philippines, as the chacha would allow foreign big capitalists, especially US big capital, to control the local economy and, by dint of the size and dominance of their capital, to control the Philippine government," said the CPP.

"The CPP calls on all patriotic and democratic forces to gear-up to do battle with the Aquino regime in order to put a stop to its US-designed chacha train," added the CPP.
