The AFP’s unilateral somo -- a complete farce

Ka Oris
NDFP-Mindanao
11 January 2014

In yet another record-breaking attempt to deceive the revolutionary movement and the people, the US-Aquino regime’s AFP has declared a Suspension of Offensive Military Operations (SOMO) from 21 December 2013 to 15 January 2014 that, so far, has turned out to be a total sham.

Clearly, the objectives of the SOMO have been intended:  1) to prevent the successful celebration across the country of the 45th anniversary of the re-establishment of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP-MLM) on Dec. 26; 2) to dupe the NPA into lowering its guard so that it can take advantage of it and attack NPA units or arrest revolutionary cadres, including NDFP peace consultants as it did in their past SOMO declarations; 3) to provoke the NPA to engage in fire fight within the 6-day period of the NPA’s Christmas and New Year unilateral ceasefire and attempt to  isolate the NPA by way of its propaganda advantage in the media; and, 4) to project political and moral ascendancy over and against the much shorter unilateral ceasefire of the NPA.

A week before the scheduled end of the Suspension of Military Operations (SOMO) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines this January 15, the New People's Army under the Western Agusan Norte-Agusan Sur Sub-Regional Command launched two offensive actions against operating troops of the 26th Infantry Battalion in San Luis, Agusan Sur on January 8 and 9. Six were killed and 12 were wounded among the reactionary soldiers in the two incidents while the NPA suffered no casualties.

Despite the AFP's SOMO, military operations continue relentlessly in San Luis, Agusan Sur, San Fernando and Impasug-on in Bukidnon, and Gingoog, Claveria and Binuangan in Misamis Oriental.

VIDEO: End Aquino’s corrupt, puppet and brutal rule

ANG BAYAN
7 January 2014

Ever since Benigno Aquino III was exposed as the Pork Barrel King and his criminal negligence of the people’s welfare bared in the face of successive disasters last year, the Filipino people’s demand for an end to his corrupt, puppet and brutal reign has gained strength and breadth.

The Filipino people are thoroughly fed up with three years of Aquino’s lies about his so-called clean governance and delivery of public services to the people. Gross corruption is as brazen as ever, especially in the form of favors given by the Aquino government to big businessmen for project contracts.

Aquino regime's hostile actions jeopardize welfare of typhoon Yolanda victims

Fr. Santiago “Ka Sanny” Salas
NDFP-Eastern Visayas

January 8, 2014

Even while Eastern Visayas struggles to recover from typhoon Yolanda's devastation, the Aquino government persists in escalating the civil war without any concern for the people's welfare. According to the National Democratic Front of the Philippines in Eastern Visayas, the Aquino regime pursued and is set to intensify its Oplan Bayanihan despite the unilateral ceasefire declaration of the revolutionary movement in the region up to mid-January this year for the avowed purpose of aiding the typhoon victims. The Armed Forces of the Philippines also grudgingly declared its own unilateral ceasefire in December 2013, which was soon belied by their continuing military operations all over the country.

NDFP-EV spokesperson Fr. Santiago “Ka Sanny” Salas said, “The 8th Infantry Division of the AFP  in the region continued military operations even while the New People's Army was on ceasefire and focused on aiding the typhoon victims. The NDFP-EV condemns the Nov. 25, 2013 attack by 87th IB troops on an NPA unit in Brgy. Calundan, San Jorge, Western Samar and the subsequent arrest of Renato Baleros and his wife Vangie Colinayo.

Protest Aquino's antipeople big business projects in calamity areas--CPP

Information Bureau
Communist Party of the Philippines
January 09, 2014

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) called on the Filipino people, especially the victims of the supertyphoon Yolanda and other calamities last year to expose and wage mass protests against the antipeople programs and big business projects of the Aquino regime misrepresented as "rehabilitation." The CPP issued this statement amid public outcries over the reported overpricing and use of substandard materials in the construction of bunkhouses being built by the Aquino government.

The Aquino government has hired private contractors to build at least 222 bunkhouses, the design and specifications of which have been criticized by architects and planners as subhuman and below international standards. Each bunkhouse, costing nearly P1 million each, is to be divided into 12 units of 8 meters square each, described as big enough only for two large tables.

More

T‬he Filipino people are thoroughly fed up with three years of Aquino's lies about his so-called clean governance and delivery of public services to the people. Gross corruption is as brazen as ever, especially in the form of favors given by the Aquino government to big businessmen for project contracts.

Despite Aquino's protestations, it has also come to light how he has been using hundreds of billions of pesos of Malacañang funds to bribe politicians into hewing to his set agenda, such as the ouster of former Supreme Court chief justice Renato Corona.

Luis G. Jalandoni
Chairperson, NDFP Negotiating Panel
5 January 2014

Interview by Ms. CELERINA DEL MUNDO-MONTE, Associate Editor, The Daily Manila Shimbun

LUIS G. JALANDONI (LGJ): Before I answer your questions, I wish to give the following preface.

It is the standing policy of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) to be willing to engage in peace negotiations with any administration of the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP) that is willing to hold peace negotiations for a just and lasting peace, which address the roots of the armed conflict. The negotiations should work for fundamental social, economic and political reforms for the benefit of the people.

Introducing the 5-book series Continuing the Philippine Revolution

Prof. Jose Maria Sison
Founding Chairman, Communist Party of the Philippines
December 22, 2013

As author, I am deeply pleased and honored that this forum and the launch of the five-book series under the general title, Continuing the Philippine Revolution, are a major part of the program of the Informative and Cultural Gathering. I thank the International Network for Philippines Studies and the Linangan Art & Culture Network for arranging this event. And I also join them in thanking the New World Academy and the Basis voor Actuele Kunst for facilitating it.

I am elated by the coincidence with and relevance of the book launch to two major events. First, the Filipino people continue to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Andres Bonifacio, who founded the Katipunan and launched the initial battles of the Philippine revolution of 1896. Second, the Communist Party of the Philippines is now celebrating the 45th anniversary of its re-establishment under the theoretical guidance of Marxism-Leninism-Mao Zedong Thought or Maoism in 1968.
